Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Take2 Online Auctions (take2onlineauctions.com.au, “the Site”) is operated by George Lucas for Take 2 Bloodstock Pty Ltd (ACN 117 288 883) of 15/618 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, Victoria 3004 (“we”, “us”, “our”). We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how you can access or correct it.

What information we collect

When you create an account we collect your first and last name, email address, mobile number, street address, suburb, state and postcode, and a password of your choosing (which we store in encrypted form).

When you bid or win we record your bids, the time of each bid, the auctions you view or bid on, and the final result.

When you visit the Site we may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you visit, using cookies and similar tools (see “Cookies” below).

When you contact us we keep the details of your message and our reply.

We do not collect or store credit card details. Payments for horses are made directly to the seller or their agent by bank transfer, using the bank details we send to the winning bidder.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • create and manage your account and verify who you are;
  • let you bid, and run the auctions fairly;
  • send you auction emails you need, such as outbid notices, ending-soon alerts and winner notices;
  • contact the winning bidder to arrange payment, transfer of ownership paperwork, pick-up and transport;
  • answer your questions and resolve disputes;
  • keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and manipulation of bidding, and meet our legal obligations;
  • improve the Site and understand how it is used.

By creating an account you agree to receive emails from us about future listings, auction results and other updates relevant to our business. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any of those emails, or by contacting us. Emails you need to use the Site (such as outbid notices, ending-soon alerts, winner notices and password resets) are separate and are sent while you hold an account.

What other bidders see

Other bidders only see a bidder number next to each bid. On occasion, bidders may instead see a heavily masked version of a username (for example, a letter followed by asterisks) that does not identify you. They do not see your name, email, phone number or address.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed:

  • With the seller, stable or their agent, if you are the winning bidder, so the sale can be completed, paperwork transferred and the horse collected. This usually means your name, phone, email and postal address.
  • With service providers who help us run the Site, such as our website host, email delivery services, our auction software support team and our newsletter provider. They may only use your information to provide their service to us. Some of these providers store or access information outside Australia.
  • With government, regulators or law enforcement if the law requires it.

Cookies

The Site uses cookies. Some are essential (for example, to keep you logged in). Others help us understand how the Site is used. You can choose which non-essential cookies to allow in our cookie banner, and you can also change cookie settings in your browser. Some features, such as embedded YouTube videos, only load after you agree to the relevant cookies.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including password protection and secure connections (HTTPS). No online system is completely secure, so please keep your password private and do not share your login (our Terms explain that you remain responsible for any bids made under your account).

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including for tax, record-keeping and dispute purposes. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can also ask us to close your account and delete your information, although we may need to keep some records where the law or an unresolved sale requires it. To make a request, contact us through the Contact page on the Site. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website (for example, which pages are viewed and how people find us). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. It does not identify you personally. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
