How it Works

Auction System Overview:

  • Daily auctions (when listed) – Passed in – Make an offer section.
  • Exclusively for Greyhound Auctions; no other animals allowed.
  • 5-day rolling auction with a live countdown clock.
  • Users place anonymous bids, with personal details hidden until the auction ends.
  • Latest bid amount is displayed, but bidder’s identity remains anonymous.
  • Countdown clock resets to 30 seconds if a bid is placed within the last 60 seconds, preventing last-second wins.
  • Live updates of clock and bids, no page refresh required.
  • Minimum bidding increment of $50-$100, varies lot to lot.
  • If there is no reserve price, this must be stated before bidding starts.
  • Reserve price is hidden unless the highest bid falls below the reserve at auction expiry; in such cases, buyer and seller may negotiate.
  • Upon auction conclusion and winner determination, the buyer’s name is revealed.
  • A finishing time schedule is available, providing an overview of live auctions and countdown clocks.
  • Auctions are scheduled with staggered start times (5-minute intervals) to allow bidders to focus on one greyhound at a time.
  • Each auction has a fixed duration (e.g., 5 hours), ensuring auctions end at different times, with timer extensions for last-minute bids.
  • NOTE: Passed in lots will show up in passed in lots tab. Buyers can submit an offer by clicking the PINK “make an offer” TAB. All offers will be submitted by us to owners. We will review the reserve-price again after this 5 day period has elapsed & a sale hasn’t been negotiated.
